Jacob Nustad-Peluso from DBS

Jacob joined the DBS team in 2020 as a Design Specialist for our Dr. Energy Saver® service. Before moving into his current role of Service Manager, he completed hands-on training with the production team in order to become an expert in all of our products and their installation. His previous experience working with families means that he is truly passionate about our vision of a world where every family lives in a healthy, safe, and comfortable home.

Jacob manages our dedicated service department at DBS. His service team performs annual maintenance on customer waterproofing and foundation support systems, and follow-up work as needed. Jacob prides himself on being a team player and looks forward to contributing to the positive work environment at DBS. 

Jacob fills his free time between being a dad, a volunteer firefighter, and getting outdoors. He can be spotted fishing, boating, hiking, and backpacking.

    DBS Foreman Zach Jorenby is an expert at installing both waterproofing and foundation repair products. He lead a three-person crew to complete this cabin crawl space system. Our team placed drainage matting directly on the dirt crawl space ground, with a CleanSpace® vapor barrier on top. Those two products work together to prevent water from freely collecting and evaporating into the crawl space.

    This Trego, WI homeowner was having issues with the existing insulation in their home. They wanted to create more comfortable conditions in their home year-round, as well as save on energy bills. 

    Our Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist Jacob Nustad-Peluso went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the insulation project. After inspecting the property and conducting an energy audit, it was determined that spray foam insulation and blown-in insulation in the attic were necessary to effectively insulate the space.

    DBS Foreman Orrin Sundberg begain this insulation job by removing the existing fiberglass batting. His crew then completely air sealed the space with ZypFoam, concentrating on gaps in the building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts. 

    From there, they applied 1 inch of spray foam to the roof deck. They then used our TruSoft™ cellulose, covering the roof deck in 18-inches of soft, yet dense insulation. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials, perfect for use in our northern climate. Tru-Soft™ cellulose is extra dense and made from recycled news paper. It's treated to be extremely resistant to heat and fire, making it a great companion for an attic space. 

    This home is now properly equipped to handle warm Wisconsin summers and freezing winters with new attic insulation.

    Jacob, DBS's Service Manager, performed the annual inspection and maintenance, starting with flushing out the WaterGuard® system. Since the home was actively being remodeled, debris was flushed out of the system. After the system was flushed out, the WaterGuard® was operating like new. The homeowner was also concerned about some effervescence coming through the slab, and Jacob inspected the area.

    As part of our DBS Care Club, an annual maintenance appointment also includes cleaning the sump pump and basin. Once these tasks were completed, the TripleSafe™ sump pump was running like new as well!

    The owner of this home in Hermantown, MN noticed cracking in the wall below where their chimney rests. They were referred to DBS by a friend and reached out in hopes that we could stabilize the wall for them.

    Design Specialist Jacob Nustad went to the home to run a free no-obligation estimate for the homeowner. After a thorough inspection, Jacob informed the homeowner that DBS has a system solution that would solve their issue.

    Foreman Trevor Ingle led the installation for this project with assistance from a crew. Together they permanently stabilized the wall by installing 3 PowerBrace™ I-beams by securing each top bracket to the rim joists and bolting the bottom plates to the basement floor. Over time the PowerBrace™ brackets can be tightened during dry periods in an attempt to move the wall back to its original position.

    Now that the wall has been permanently stabilized, the homeowner will be able to relax much more comfortably with peace of mind from worrying about a failing wall.

These steel, zinc-plated beams help stabilize the wall and keep it from moving any more. They are also adjustable, allowing them to be tightened to move the wall back to its original position overtime. The wall on this project was even able to be slightly repositioned the day of!

    Foreman Tyler Nacey led the installation of this project, along with a team. The team worked together to install 5 GeoLock™ Wall Anchors and 2 PowerBrace™ I-beams. The GeoLock™ systems connect steel plates inside the home to earth anchors outside of the home. By adjusting the connection, the wall can be moved and repositioned back into place. The PowerBrace™ beams are connected to the rim joists and also allow for stabilization. These beams are adjusted overtime to keep the wall from settling any further and to move the walls back to their original positions. 

    Having both of these systems supporting the home, this homeowner will have nothing to worry about when it comes to stabilization.

    DBS Sales Manager Jacob Nustad-Peluso was the Design Specialist for this crawl space project. After providing a thorough estimate, he created a plan to fully insulate the crawl space.     The crew first began by removing all of the existing insulation and debris from the crawl space. SilverGlo™ rigid foam insulation was installed on the vertical wall of the crawl space. From there, our team installed closed-cell spray foam on the rim joists of the crawl space ceiling. This will air seal the crawl space, dramatically reducing the ability of cold air and water to enter the space.

One of DBS's Servicemen Jacob Nustad went out to the property to get her accustomed to the DBS hardware that had previously been installed. Upon inspection he noticed that a portion of the floor above was still sagging, so he advised her that the addition of a couple more SmartJack® supports would resolve the issue in the future.

    The initial Design Specialist assigned to this job, Rich Johnsen, advised the previous homeowner on solutions that DBS has to offer.

    A Foreman from DBS installed the previous projects and work that had been completed includes installing foundational repair products including 3 SmartJack® supports, and 13 PowerBrace™ I-beams, as well as the installation of waterproofing technology called WaterGuard® Drainage System and TripleSafe™ sump pump. CleanSpace® was also installed on the surface of the basement walls in order to direct water into the WaterGuard® drains. The foundation repairs that had been done were to correct wall cracking and sagging floors, and the waterproofing installations were made to protect the basement from water damage.

    The new owner of this house has peace of mind knowing that their basement walls have been permanently stabilized, and can relax comfortably knowing that the basement waterproofing system will keep the house dry.

    Nick Woods II and his attic insulation crew began this project by first removing the existing fiberglass insulation. They then sealed the gaps in building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts with a layer of closed-cell spray foam. From there, they blew-in a heavy layer of our TruSoft™ cellulose into the space. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials and will work wonders to protect the space. Finally, they targeted the entrances to the attic and created radiant barriers using SilverGlo™ insulation.

    Sealing the attic from the rest of the living space was key in preventing warm air from escaping the home, and improved overall energy efficiency, and health of the space.

From there, they blew-in a heavy layer of our TruSoft™ cellulose into the space. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials and will work wonders to protect the space. 

    For the crawl space, our team removed debris, and applied a MoldX2 Botanical™ to the moldy wooden support beams. From there, they used SilverGlo™ insulation on the crawl space foundation walls, and spray foam to seal the rim joists.

    Our production crew first removed the existing fiberglass insulation and sealed the gaps in building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts with a layer of closed-cell spray foam.     Owners of this home in International Falls, MN were concerned about the crawl space below their living space. Settling supports contributed to some sinking floors on their main level. He found that several of the main supports had sunk significantly and designed a solution that would restore the home's foundation.

    DBS Foreman Joe Harris and his foundation repair crew performed the foundation support job. They used the warranty-backed SmartJack® System to replace the failing supports in this crawl space.  These telescoping support beams are perfect for the crawl space environment and use an aluminum base to stabilize the beams despite the soil type below it. Our team performed a lift procedure to restore the home to a level position, carefully measuring and securing the SmartJack® beams.

On a routine service appointment by our Service Manager Jacob Nustad-Peluso, he and the homeowner discussed the drafty basement. Cold air was coming through the rim joist area in the basement, leading to cold floors on the main level of the home. 

    Nick Woods II and his insulation crew used closed-cell spray foam to seal the basement rim joists. This spray foam expands once applied to close gaps and cracks, providing a solid barrier against water and airflow. Insulating the rim joists in your basement or crawl space stops airflow of both cold air in the winter and warm, humid air in the summer. 

    The homeowners now have a more efficient home, saving money on heating and cooling bills!
