Eric joined the DBS team in the fall of 2020 as an Installer on our Basement Repair team. His background includes working as a roofer, as well as 4 years in waterproofing. He looks forward to bringing this technical knowledge to the production team and delivering on the DBS promise of "WOW" service to homeowners.

What excites him most about a career at DBS is the ability to fix structural and water issues facing Duluth area homes.

    DBS Foreman Joe Harris and his crew installed the waterproofing system consisting of a CleanSpace® vapor barrier to stop water and a WaterGuard® subfloor french drainage system to drain water out of the home for good.

    DBS Foreman Dustin Behning and crew installed 10 PowerBrace™ wall support beams to stabilize the walls and prevent any further movement. These galvanized steel I-beams will be tightened over time with the goal of restoring the wall to its original position.

    DBS Foreman Joe Harris and crew installed 105 feet of a WaterGuard® subfloor french drainage system to drain water into a brand new TripleSafe™ sump pump. This system contains 3 pumps; the first can handle up to 2,600 gallons of water an hour, the second pump kicks in during periods of heavy rainfall to pump a total of 6,200 gallons of water, and the third pump comes on with a battery back-up in the case of a power outage.

    From there, they installed our WaterGuard® drainage system and surrounded it with gravel to encourage proper drainage, and covered it with new concrete. Once the drain system install was complete, they connected it to a TripleSafe™ sump pump. To prevent moisture build-up via the basement walls, DBS installed CleanSpace® vapor barrier.     This Stone Lake, WI home was built in 1997. First used as a lake home, this family transitioned to living there year-round. The wintertime made their upper levels cold and drafty, and caused certain rooms to heat up in the summertime as well. Looking for a permanent solution to make their home more comfortable year-round, they reached out to DBS for a permanent solution.

    Henry Jungbauer is our Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist and went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate. After inspecting the property and conducting an energy audit, it was determined that air sealing and blown-in insulation were necessary to effectively seal and insulate the space.

    Our production crew first removed the existing fiberglass insulation and sealed the gaps in building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts with a layer of closed-cell spray foam. From there, they blew-in a heavy layer of our TruSoft™ cellulose into the space. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials and will work wonders to protect the space. 

    Sealing the attic was key to prevent warm air from escaping the home, and improves the overall energy-efficiency and health of the space.

    DBS Design Specialist Nathan Schroeder visited the home and provided a thorough inspection. Assessing the cracks in the foundation, he determined that a french drain tile system would be installed, as well as a vapor barrier wall covering. 

    Foreman Joe Harris led the installation of this basement waterproofing system. The team first dug trenches along the perimeter of the basement to install our WaterGuard® french drain system. This interior drain tile will catch water and lead it to the basement sump pump. To catch the water coming from the cracks in the basement walls, our team installed CleanSpace® vapor barrier. This thick, white poly sheet material makes an excellent covering for leaky basement foundation walls. It catches all water and vapor and leads it down into the WaterGuard® drain.

In order to protect the entire basement, our basement repair team installed 100 feet of interior drain tile with a CleanSpace® vapor barrier on the walls. DBS uses the WaterGuard® drainage system, designed to capture water seepage through walls and leaks along the wall and floor joint. Water enters the system via inlet holes and flows through the drainage pipe to the basement sump pump. 

    After the successful install of the basement system, our team installed 6 PowerBrace™ steel I-beams. This system permanently stabilizes basement walls and its unique tightening system can restore the original wall to its original position over time.
