A homeowner in Maple Grove, MN reached out to DBS with some concerns regarding their cinder block foundation wall. The wall was experiencing some stairstep cracks running through the wall, which is a common sign of foundation settlement. Aside from that, they were experiencing some secondary issues with water leaking through the foundation. In need of some help, they had a Design Specialist from DBS come out and offer them a free, no-obligation inspection of the foundation and an estimate to repair.
It was determined that our crew would install the GeoLock® Wall Anchor System to stabilize the foundation. This is one of the ideal solutions for repairing cracked or bowing walls. It entails two galvanized steel anchor plates (one interior and one exterior) embedded below the soil outside of the foundation wall. the plates are attached by a steel rod, and this creates a force that helps stabilize the wall immediately. Over time, the anchor system can be tightened and work to straighten any bowing walls. In this case here, the homeowner caught the issue before too much structural damage occurred. A photo of the interior portion of the wall can be seen attached here. The results turned out great, and the homeowner can now feel more comfortable with their foundation wall.
