A homeowner in Washburn, WI was in need of an upgrade to their basement waterproofing system to assist in ceasing any future basement flooding. Adding a solid basement waterproofing system is something that any homeowner should consider, whether they have experienced issues or not. This particular homeowner was looking for the right products, they reached out to DBS for help. A Design Specialist went out to the property and provided a thorough inspection of the basement. It was determined that a few different products would need to be installed in order to ensure a quality waterproofing system. First, WaterGuard® would be installed around the perimeter of the basement. This product acts as a drain that catches any unwanted wall or floor seepage. It is an ideal option for basement waterproofing. Along with that, our crew also installed a TripleSafe™ sump pump in the existing basement sump pit. This sump pump will work to extract leaking water through a discharge line to a more appropriate exterior location. The results of the project turned out great, and the homeowner can now be more comfortable with an upgraded basement system.

Why Basements Flood: More Entry Points Than You Think
Basement water problems don’t come from one place, they come from everywhere at once. Across Duluth, St. Cloud, Brainerd, Baxter, Elk River, Big Lake, Sauk Rapids and nearby St. Louis, Stearns, Sherburne, Benton, Crow Wing and Cass counties, heavy snowmelt, freeze-thaw cycles, clay soils and seasonal high water tables can put basements under pressure from multiple directions.

Floor Cracks, Window Leaks and Hatchway Failures:
The Entry Points Most Homeowners Miss
The most dangerous basement leaks aren’t always the most dramatic. Slow, chronic seepage through floor cracks and window frames causes just as much long-term damage as a sudden flood, and it’s easier to ignore until it’s too late.

The Hidden Consequence of a Chronically Wet Basement
Standing water is an emergency. But chronic moisture, the kind that never fully dries out between rain events, is a slow-moving disaster that most homeowners don’t catch until the damage is severe.
