Foundation Support for Shifting Britt, MN Cabin

Longtime cabin owners on Lake Leander outside of Britt, MN were concerned over worsening conditions with the cabin's block foundation. Individual blocks were shifting measurably, leaving cracks and gaps that left the crawl space prone to wetness and mold. Looking for a permanent solution, they reached out to DBS for more information about our foundation support systems. 

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the foundation support work. He determined that the crawl space would have SmartJack® support beams installed to lift and support the sagging crawl space ceiling, as well as helical piers to properly support the weight of the structure.

DBS Foreman Zach Royer and his crew installed 9 helical piers to support 44 feet of additional support beams.

To complete the work in the crawl space, Foreman Nick Burley and his production crew installed 13 SmartJack® supports to replace the rotting wooden beams. Finaly, they completed an encapsulation using a vapor barrier to to keep moisture at bay and protect the home's structural elements going forward.

Britt, MN Home Protected from Water and Further Foundation Cracks

This Britt, MN home was built in 2005 but unfortunately, the foundation walls in the basement were beginning to crack. Over time, soil pressure had caused its foundation walls to crack and bow. The homeowners lived in the space for about 4 years before discovering the issue when water began to leak in from the cracked and bowed block walls. 

DBS Design Specialist Nathan Schroeder went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation inspection and estimate for the work. After visiting the home, Nathan recommended the installation of a waterproofing and foundation repair system to fully protect the home. 

Because this home had multiple home repair needs, it was broken up into 2 projects. Our highly-trained installers from both foundation support and waterproofing visited the home to complete the repair in their area of expertise. 

DBS Foreman Taylor Allen and his crew installed the full waterproofing system in this basement. It consists of a CleanSpace® vapor barrier to stop water and a WaterGuard® subfloor french drainage system to drain water. These two products connect to a new SingleSafe™ sump pump that will keep water out of the home for good.

DBS Foreman Nick Burley and crew installed 4 PowerBrace™ wall support beams to stabilize the walls and prevent any further movement. These galvanized steel I-beams will be tightened over time with the goal of restoring the wall to its original position. 

The homeowners can now rest easy knowing their home is healthy, safe, and comfortable!

Failing Basement Walls Prevents House in Britt, MN From Going on The Market

The owner of this home in Britt, MN intends on selling their property. However, they discovered that they needed to fix the foundation issues in their basement before doing so. Their walls were cracked and bowing and they remembered that a friend of theirs had the same issues at one point but was solved by DBS solutions. Hoping they too could find a solution to their problem, they reached out.

Design Specialist James Miller conducted a free no-obligation estimate of the issue. After a thorough inspection, James made a plan of which solutions would best stabilize their walls. James suggested the homeowner employs DBS to install GeoLock™ Wall Anchors and PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System.

A DBS Foreman led the installation for this project. With the help of a crew, they installed 3 GeoLock™ Wall Anchors and 4 PowerBrace™ I-beams. The walls have been permanently stabilized and the walls are free of additional bowing and cracking.

Now the owner can sell their home and not worry about their walls completely failing on the next owners.
