The owners of this cabin built in the 1940s noticed cracking in the sides of their foundation walls, and on the interior as well. This is one of the first indications of sinking and settling of foundational support systems which can eventually lead to wall failure if left alone. They feared that the backside addition may completely detach from the rest of the structure. In hopes of finding a solution to their problem in order to keep the cabin in the family, they called DBS.
One of our Design Specialists, Zach Guilliams, visited the property to do a free no-obligation estimate of the problem at hand. After careful evaluation, he determined that the 2 main wooden beams supporting the cabin were the root of the issue. Zach expressed to the owners that our solution to this problem would be to replace the original wooden beams with galvanized steel beams and replace the concrete block support columns with 5 helical piers and 2 SmartJack®. Working Production Manager George Barry and his team led the installation for this project, and once finished, this became a permanent solution that will help prevent any further settling of the cabin, and correct cracking that had occurred in the walls.
This cabin is now sturdier than it has ever been, and the family can now have peace of mind knowing that their cabin will continue to be passed down for future generations.

Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo helped these homeowners with a free no-obligation estimate in order to offer them the best solution for their home. After inspection, Henrik suggested the homeowners encapsulate their crawlspace using SprayFoam, Drainage Matting, TerraBlock™, and CleanSpace® in order to keep the space dry and warm.

They then placed down Drainage Matting in order to avoid future moisture in the space. To follow, TerraBlock™ insulation was placed to avoid cool air entering the space from beneath the home. Finally, CleanSpace® is placed on top to cover the walls and floor of the crawl space.
This crawl space encapsulation will keep this home dry and warm during all 4 seasons.

DBS just completed one of our first concrete repair projects of the year at a property in Superior, WI. With the spring season starting to kick off, concrete repairs are a very high demand service for DBS to fix ravaged concrete slabs. This service comes with a few different products capable of ensuring a more safe and friendly slab. When concrete starts wear down and crack, it can also begin shifting to uneven positions, causing hazards for those who occupy the area. Since DBS is unable to provide this service during the winter months, early spring is a hot time for concrete repairs to take place, right before the warm summer months. One product that is commonly used in this service is PolyLevel®. What this is is a polymer foam injection that is embedded below the surface of the concrete that has sunk. Once injected, The foam quickly expands and lifts the concrete back to the desired position. It is a quick and efficient way to ensure a more even slab. Another common product for crack repairs is the NexusPro®. This is a sealant that is used to fill in large cracks running along the concrete that might cause further issues down the road. A photo of the NexusPro® can be seen attached here. The crew for this particular project did a great job caring for the concrete apron, and the results were successful.

Ceramic and vinyl basement tiles leave basement floors cold. They contain no thermal break between the concrete of your floor and your living space. Each ThermalDry® Floor Tile rests on top of plastic pegs. By doing so, a thermal break is created underneath, which makes your floor's surface 8-10°F warmer than the cold concrete surface below.
