A cabin in Sandstone, MN was experiencing issues with the settling of its foundation. This is a common issue we see amongst many older cabins in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The buildings lack proper structural support, and over time, this can lead to foundation sinking and further damages along the way. It was no different for this cabin, as it was sitting on old concrete blocks that had settled and caused the structure to become uneven. In need of a solution, the owner reached out to DBS.
One of our Design Specialists went to visit the cabin and provide a free,no-obligation estimate for the foundation repair. After a thorough inspection, it was determined that in order to successfully stabilize the cabin, we would have to install a total of 10 helical piers (5 on each side of the cabin) to stop any further settling. To do this, our crew would install steel support beams running underneath the foundation, and have a helical pier attached at both ends of the beam to secure its place. Helical foundation piers are made of galvanized steel designed for heavy load support. They are an ideal solution for the stabilization of homes, cabins, decks, and other similar structures.
The project here was a success, and the foundation of the cabin is now safe from future settling.
