Basement Stabilization & Waterproofing for a Growing Family in Minnesota
Challenge
This homeowner reached out to DBS Repair because their basement was no longer a usable space. With a growing family and limited room upstairs, they hoped to add two bedrooms and a bathroom in the basement—but water intrusion and foundation movement made the area unsafe and impractical. The walls showed signs of inward pressure, and moisture issues created an unreliable environment for finishing. Before any remodeling could happen, the basement needed to be structurally sound, dry, and protected long-term.
Solution
To solve these challenges, DBS Repair designed a comprehensive plan addressing both the structural instability and the water problems. Our waterproofing crew, Nik and Garry, installed the WaterGuard® interior drainage system, paired with IceGuard® to protect the discharge line from freezing. CleanSpace® wall panels were added to guide moisture into the drainage system, and a SaniDry™ Sedona dehumidifier was installed to improve air quality and maintain dryness.
For the foundation concerns, our team members Trevor and Travis installed GeoLock™ Channel Anchors along the bowing walls. These anchors were embedded into stable soil and tightened to secure the foundation, preventing further inward movement.
Together, these systems transformed the basement into a dry, stable, and dependable space—making it possible for the homeowner to move forward with adding the bedrooms and bathroom their expanding family needs.
