Helical Pier Foundation Repair in Virginia, Minnesota

A homeowner in Virginia, MN, contacted DBS Residential Solutions after noticing that an addition on the back of the home was moving. The shifting had caused the floor to become uneven and created gaps around the door, raising concerns about the long-term stability of the structure.

The homeowner was looking for a permanent solution to stabilize the addition and address the movement that had already occurred.

To access the foundation, the existing skirting and sonotube supports needed to be removed. The homeowner also removed a section of fencing, while the DBS crew laid down plywood to help protect the sidewalk and yard as equipment was brought into the work area.

Foreman Nate Simonson and his crew installed two helical piers beneath the existing 6-inch by 6-inch supports to provide a stronger, more dependable foundation for the addition. During the installation, the structure was carefully lifted nearly three-quarters of an inch, helping close the gaps around the door and improve the level of the floor. The crew made precise adjustments to restore the addition as much as possible while still ensuring the door continued to operate properly.

Once the piers were secured, the crew welded the pier tops, backfilled and compacted the work areas, and cleaned up the site.

The homeowner was happy with the results and now has a permanently stabilized foundation system supporting the addition.
