These homeowners from Mountain Iron, MN reached out to DBS for help stabilizing the lower level of their single-story home. This home was built in the 1950's and the foundation was cracked, bowing, and approaching failure when the customer called. 

DBS Design Specialist, Henrik Makitalo went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. Henrik measured the structural damage and created a custom plan to stabilize the cracked cinderblock foundation walls. PowerBrace™ wall support beams were recommended to permanently stabilize this foundation. No external excavation is required with this stabilization system and progress is benchmarked on an annual basis to correct sheering.

The owner of this home in Mountain Iron, MN had issues with their basement foundation walls. There was a large degree of bowing and a horizontal crack split the wall in half. The owner reached out to DBS after being referred to us by a friend.

A Design Specialist went to the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate. After a thorough inspection, the Design Specialist explained that as the basement walls settled over time, it caused cracks in the garage flooring above. The horizontal cracks occurred as the fill soil outside of the basement walls settled and applied pressure, bowing the walls inward. 

A Foreman led the installation of this project. With the help of a crew, they installed 12 PowerBrace™ I-beams to permanently stabilize the walls. The PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System is backed with a 75-year warranty against movement to ensure peace of mind.

Cracking and bowing occur in foundations when holes infill soil around the walls changes with moisture levels. As the soil moisture increases, it expands and pushes against the walls, and as it dries, it leaves voids for water to fill into the next time it rains. Henrik suggested installing the PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System to solve their issue.

A Foreman led the installation for this project and with the help of a team, they installed 22 PowerBrace™ I-beams. The PowerBrace™ I-beams were secured to the rim joists in the basement with a steel bracket that allows for tightening during dry seasons in an attempt to straighten the wall. Once installed, the PowerBrace™ System guarantees that the wall will not experience any additional cracking or bowing, and it is backed with a 75-year warranty.

The home has been permanently stabilized with the help of DBS, and the homeowners can now relax safely and comfortably in their homes without worrying about their walls completely failing.
