Waterproofing a Basement Threatened by Long-Term Moisture - Minneapolis, MN
Challenge
A new homeowner in Minneapolis, MN, was excited to settle into their recently purchased home—until they discovered signs of long-standing water intrusion in the basement. Moisture had damaged the lower walls and floor, creating an uncomfortable environment and raising concerns about long-term structural damage and poor air quality. With spring thaw approaching, the homeowner knew they needed a permanent solution to protect their investment. They reached out to DBS Repair, where Design Specialist Henrik conducted a thorough inspection and explained how water was entering through the wall-floor joint and causing hidden damage over time.
Solution
Based on Henrik’s assessment, our team designed a full-perimeter waterproofing system to address the moisture concerns and protect the home for years to come. Foreman Jared and installer Erik began by carefully demoing the basement perimeter to expose the problem areas. Once the space was prepped, they installed WaterGuard®, a drainage system that collects water at the wall-floor joint and directs it safely to the sump pump. To prevent vapor intrusion from the basement walls, CleanSpace® was installed as a durable, bright white wall liner that also enhances the appearance of the space. Though not pictured, the project also included an DoubleSafe® battery backup system to provide protection during power outages and a SaniDry Sedona™ dehumidifier to manage humidity and prevent mold. The results were transformative—the basement became clean, dry, and protected, backed by DBS’s 75-year transferable warranty and installed with care by Jared and Erik.
