Owners of this 1950's cabin in Chetek, WI contacted DBS for some professional help with their crawl space. The cabin had an addition built in 2006, creating some uneven floors on the main level of the cabin. Wanting this to become a 4-season retreat for their family to enjoy, they were also interested in crawl space encapsulation and insulation.
DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer visited the cabin and provided a free, no-obligation estimate of the crawl space work. Because it involved both supporting the crawl space and encapsulation, two different crews completed this work.
DBS Foreman Nick Burley and his crew first performed the crawl space foundation work. They installed 24 feet of horizontal steel support beams parallel to the dirt crawl space. Our team installed a total of 11 SmartJack® telescoping vertical beams beneath the new support beam and beneath the cabin's existing supports.
After the crawl space foundation repair was complete, our team began the crawl space encapsulation work. DBS Foreman Nick Woods II lead his crew in the installation of a total encapsulation system: a layer of drainage matting applied directly to the crawl space floor, then a layer of TerraBlock™ insulation, and finally a vapor barrier to seal the space. They also applied spray foam to the rim joists to property seal the space from cold air.
This family now has peace of mind that their cabin will stand up to Wisconsin winter temperatures.
