The owners of this home in Mountain Iron, MN was experiencing issues with a bowing wall in their basement. Their wall was tilting so badly that you could see the change of degree without using a level. Looking for a solution, the owners reached out to DBS. 

Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo went to the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate of the problem. After completing a thorough inspection, Henrik educated the owners on what was happening. Cracking and bowing occur in foundations when holes infill soil around the walls changes with moisture levels. As the soil moisture increases, it expands and pushes against the walls, and as it dries, it leaves voids for water to fill into the next time it rains. A Foreman led the installation for this project and with the help of a team, they installed 22 PowerBrace™ I-beams. The PowerBrace™ I-beams were secured to the rim joists in the basement with a steel bracket that allows for tightening during dry seasons in an attempt to straighten the wall. Once installed, the PowerBrace™ System guarantees that the wall will not experience any additional cracking or bowing, and it is backed with a 75-year warranty.
