Failing Duluth, MN Attic Improved by Air Sealing and Insulation

This Duluth, MN home has a cathedral-style attic and almost no insulation. Looking to prevent ice dams in the winter and reduce heating bills, the homeowners reached out to DBS for a permanent solution.

A Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. After inspecting the property and conducting an energy audit, it was determined that air sealing, and blown-in insulation were necessary to effectively seal the space.

Our production crew first sealed the gaps in building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts. From there, they used our TruSoft™ cellulose to blow into the space. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials. 

Sealing the attic was key to prevent warm air from escaping the home, and improves the overall energy-efficiency and health of the space.
