Air Sealing and Insulation Stops Ice Dams in Duluth, MN Home

Homeowners in Duluth, MN had issues with cold and drafty rooms in their home. Uncomfortable conditions paired with ice dams on the roof prompted them to contact DBS.

Sales Manager Jacob Nustad-Peluso was the Design Specialist for the project and went to the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. After inspecting the property and conducting an energy audit, it was determined that air sealing and blown-in insulation were necessary to effectively seal and insulate the space.

Our production crew first removed the existing fiberglass insulation and sealed the gaps in building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts with a layer of closed-cell spray foam. From there, they blew-in a heavy layer of our TruSoft™ cellulose into the space. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials and will work wonders to protect the space. 

Sealing the attic was key to prevent warm air from escaping the home, and improves the overall energy-efficiency and health of the space.
