This cabin in Hackensack, MN was struggling with its foundation. The shoreline is beginning to recede and as result, the foundation was sinking into the soil. Looking for a permanent stabilization solution to keep the lake home in the family, the owner reached out to DBS.

He also recommended DBS Crawl Space Encapsulation services to waterproof the area.

Foreman Evan LaFontaine led the installation of this project with help from a crew. Together they installed 3 SmartJack® supports and encapsulated the crawlspace in 3 layers. The first layer installed was a dimpled drainage matting to assist the flow of water beneath the insulation. Then they installed panels of TerraBlock™ foam insulation to protect the crawl space from frost. The last step in the encapsulation process was encasing the area in a layer of CleanSpace® water vapor barrier.

Now that the crawlspace has been permanently stabilized and encapsulated, the cabin owner will be able to get much more use out of their lake home retreat all year round without worry that it will sink into the lake.
