Instability in Basement Stops Home Renovation in Saint Paul, MN But is Fixed with SmartJack® Solution

This homeowner in Saint Paul, MN wanted to do some home renovation projects upstairs but was unable to until the support problems downstairs were addressed. Failing support beams in the basement were causing the floor above to sink and sag.

A DBS Design Specialist made a trip to the home in order to conduct a free, no-obligation estimate for the homeowner. After a careful inspection, our SmartJack® Support System was recommended.

A DBS Foreman led the installation of this project with help from a team. Together, the team installed the SmartJack® Systems in certain areas of the basement to ensure the weight of the structure was evenly distributed. These jacks are then adjusted in order to raise the floor above back to a level position.

This homeowner can now continue on with their home renovations without needing to worry about instability below.

Bowing Wall in Saint Paul, MN Garage Fixed with Wall Anchors

This Saint Paul, MN home was with a block foundation. At one point, a garage was added and attached to the home. The homeowner started noticing issues with the foundation shifting on one particular side of the garage. The soil was putting pressue on the wall, causing it to bow inwards. After doing some research on foundation repair, the homeowners contacted DBS for a permanent solution.

A DBS Design Specialist visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate for the foundation repair work. After we diagnosed the foundation issue, and came up with a custom-solution, our wall repair team got to work!

The project Foreman and crew installed 4 GeoLock™ Wall Plates and Earth Anchors to the failing foundation wall. This system uses the heavy-duty anchors in and connects them to plates on the wall interior wall. Connected with long, galvanized rods, these anchors are tightened to straighten the wall over time and provide maximum support.

Cathedral Ceilings Dense-Packed With DBS Tru-Soft™ Cellulose Insulation

The owners of this home in Saint Paul, MN experienced issues with keeping their house warm. They would raise the heat but all they got in return was high energy bills. Looking for a solution, the owners contacted DBS.

Design Specialist Austin Burley went to the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate for the owners. After evaluation, he suggested the owners have insulation dense-packed into their cathedral-style ceilings to help insulate their roof.

Foreman Nick Woods II led the installation for this project with help from his crew. Together they drilled holes in each bay of the ceiling to dense-pack blown-in Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation as the space in between the ceiling and roof was inaccessible. Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation is more efficient than fiber-glass because it retains heat better and is also treated in a borate solution to prevent pests and acts as a fire-retardant. To finish the job the team sealed off each injection site with ZypFoam™ to completely air seal the space.

Now that the home has been properly insulated, the homeowners can relax comfortably as they experience lower energy bills and a warmer household.
