This home in Duluth, MN was built in 1881. Naturally, its foundation has begun to crack and bow from the soil pressure. The homeowners were tired of cleaning up water from the leaking foundation. After seeing our advertisements on local tv, they contacted us to schedule a free, no-obligation estimate with one of our foundation repair specialists.

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo went to the home and provided a inspection and estimate for the work. After visiting the home, Henrik recommended installing a waterproofing and foundation repair system to fully protect the home.

Because this home had multiple home repair needs, it was broken up into 3 projects. Our highly-trained installers from each area visited the home to complete the repair in their area expertise.

DBS Foreman Nick Burley and crew installed 4 PowerBrace™ wall support beams to stabilize the walls and prevent any further movement.

To complete the job and help insulate the basement, Foreman Orrin Sundberg led a team to spray foam the rim joists. This will prevent cold air from entering the basement and warm air from escaping via the rim joists.

Owners of this 1876 home in Duluth, MN were concerned over worsening conditions with the home's block foundation. Individual blocks were shifting measurably, leaving cracks and gaps that left the crawl space prone to wetness and mold. Looking for a permanent solution, they reached out to DBS for more information about our foundation support systems. 

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the foundation support work. He determined that the crawl space would have helical piers installed to lift and support the home where the foundation was failing. Additionally, our team would install some insulation on the exterior of the home as well as within the crawl space to better protect the foundation.

After DBS Foreman Jose Valenzuela and his crew completed the foundation support installation. Our insulation team finished the job by adding our SilverGlo™ insulation topped with gravel as frost protection, preventing heaving to the foundation footings as the ground freezes during winter months. They also installed closed-cell spray foam to the crawl space rim joists, as well as a new EverLast™ Door and Window Insert to better weatherproof the space.
