A property owner reached out to DBS for help with an insulation project. The lower level of his lake-facing rental property was experiencing moisture due to poor insulation. 

DBS Design Specialist, Austin Burley went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. Austin recommended dense packing the walls. Dense packing is an effective form of insulating where a small section of siding is removed and insulation is inserted into the walls from outside the home. No internal work is required and it offers a solid and effective insulation solution. 

Foreman Orrin Sundberg and his production crew worked hard to install the insulation. The result is lower heating and cooling bills, reduced moisture, and a permanent solution to an energy problem.

DBS Design Specialist Nathan Schroeder visited the home, inspecting both the interior and exterior of the foundation walls. Upon assessing the scope of the wall movement, he designed a plan to permanently stabilize the walls using 6 PowerBrace™ steel I-beams.

Attaching the vertical supports to the ceiling joists and concrete floor, this system immediately stabilized the walls. Over time, the PowerBrace™ beams can be tightened to restore the wall to its original position.

From there, they installed TruSoft cellulose. This lightweight, yet dense insulation is made from recycled newspapers and coated with a non-toxic formula that is resistant to pests and fire.

DBS was also consulted to install waterproofing materials for this home as well.

Foreman Osia Williams and his crew led the installation for this project. Osia and his team successfully installed 3 PowerBrace™ I-beams that can be tightened over the years to correct cracking in the walls, and even potentially move the wall back to its initial position.

The owners of this home are now able to relax comfortably in their home knowing that their foundation has been permanently stabilized, and the basement is dry and free of additional mold growth or cracking.
