Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

This Aitkin, MN cabin owner identified a low area in their crawlspace that was collecting water in the spring and after heavy rains. They noted temperature and humidity fluctuations as well and wanted the dirt floor crawl space sealed.

DBS Design Specialist and waterproofing expert Rich Johnsen visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. It was determined that both the crawl space would need to be totally encapuslated in order to keep moisture at bay and regular temperature and energy in the reast of the cabin.

A DBS foreman and crew installed CleanSpace® vapor barrier over drainage matting in the dirt crawl space. These two products work together to keep moisture and pests at bay. To further prevent moisture and the growth of mold, closed-cell spray foam was applied to fully seal and regulate temperature in the space. 

The space was topped off with an UltraSump™ sump pump that has a battery backup system, providing protection and peace of mind when you have a pump failure or power outage.

The homeowner was happy with the work done, resulting in a great improvement of this home's overall health. 

DBS received a call that a cabin in Isle, MN was having multiple residential problems. The floor around a fireplace was sagging, causing a crooked window as a result, also causing the cabin to have trouble with the roof dropping around the fireplace. The crawl space in the cabin also needed to be waterproofed, preventing further mold and odors. Our Design Specialist, Rich Johnsen, made a proposal to support the sagging side of the cabin with our SmartJack® supports system and floor joist system while using the CleanSpace liner® and Triple SafeSump System to keep the crawlspace warm and dry. Foreman Evan LaFontaine led the installation of this project with assistance from a crew. Together they installed dimpled drainage matting to assist water flow in the crawl space. On top of that, they installed panels of TerraBlock™ insulation to provide a proper frost barrier and finished the encapsulation process by installing CleanSpace® water vapor barrier. To finish the insulation aspect of the project, the crew sprayed the vertical walls with our closed-cell polyurethane spray foam insulation.

Now that the crawl space has been properly insulated and waterproofed, the cabin owner will be able to enjoy warmer living spaces without having to pay higher heating bills!
