The crawl space of this cabin in Ely, MN was experiencing lots of ice dams in the winter as the snow melted off the front side. They decided to call DBS in hopes of finding an energy-efficient solution.
Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer went to the cabin to conduct a free no-obligation estimate. After a thorough inspection, Henry determined that their crawlspace was retaining a lot of heat that should have been blown into the living spaces of the home. He recommended that the owners consider spray foam insulation to solve their problem.
Foreman Nick Woods II led the installation of this project with a team. Together they cleared the old insulation from the concrete block foundation and layered the vertical walls with waterproof polyurethane spray foam. The spray foam will provide insulation for the crawl space as it expands as it is installed completely air-sealing the space.
Henry recommended that the homeowners eventually have insulation dense-packed into their roofing to keep even more heat inside of the cabin, but with the crawlspace insulation, they will notice how much warmer it is already. Now the owners will be more comfortable in their cabin for longer periods during the year.
The owners of this 1980s Ely, MN home experienced issues with sagging floors and freezing pipes because of their crawl space. After viewing an insulation ad for DBS on a local television station, the owner reached out in hopes of finding a solution.
Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer went to the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate. After a thorough inspection, Henry informed the owners about DBS systems that would solve their problems.
Foreman Nick Woods II led the installation for this project with help from a crew. Together they installed SmartJack®supports to level the sagging floors and encapsulated the crawl space for better energy efficiency. In the crawl space, they laid down a water vapor barrier to waterproof the space. Then the crew air-sealed the crawl space with a waterproof polyurethane spray foam to thoroughly insulate the area.
Now that the issues in the crawl space have been corrected, the owners can relax comfortably in their home without worrying about high energy bills or floors caving in.
In Ely, MN these homeowners were facing support problems in their basement. They had failing support beams which caused the home to be unlevel. They decided to pair up with DBS to find the perfect solution for their home.
Design Specialist James Miller assisted these homeowners in a free no-obligation estimate to figure out what solution would best fit their needs. After careful inspection, it was decided that a SmartJack support system would be the best solution.
Foreman Trevor Ingle led the installation of this project, along with a team. Together they installed 10 SmartJack systems and 2 supplemental beams in the basement of the home. These steel jacks are connected with steel tubing and brackets that allow the system to evenly distribute the weight of the structure. The SmartJacks, along with the new supplemental I beams, stabilize the structure and can reposition it back to its original position.
These homeowners can now relax knowing their home is stable and secure.
This home sat on top of a crawl space that had been sectioned off by concrete blocks. When we encapsulated this crawl space we knew that the areas with an interior foundation wall would not require additional insulation so we were able to seal our CleanSpace matting directly to the interior foundation wall. The matting we used gives the crawl space a very clean look while creating an environment that is no longer musty.
After meeting us at the Duluth Home Show, homeowners in Beaver Bay, MN reached out to DBS regarding the crawl space of their home. Crawl spaces with exposed earth are prone to fluctuating humidity, creating moisture and mold issues. This was concerning for the owner, as it can cause damage to the home and foundation as well as raise health issues.
A DBS Design Specialist visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the crawl space encapsulation service. It was determined that the crawl space would have CleanSpace® installed to act as a vapor barrier for the area. The DBS Foreman and crew laid the vapor barrier throughout the space to prevent the spread of moisture, and also added TerraBlock™ insulation to the space. Finally, a SaniDry™ dehumidifier will curb moisture levels due to temperature fluctuation in the space.
The homeowners were happy with the work done and now a clean and dry crawl space.
