A homeowner in Superior, WI noticed cracks in the exterior of the home were worsening. The owner wanted to maintain the property value and gain peace of mind that the problem would not get worse. After learning about us on local television, they contacted us for a free, no-obligation estimate of the issue.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home, documented the foundation crack on the outside of the home and inspected the crawl space to find the root of the issue. The dirt crawl space was unsealed and the main supports we sinking. In order to provide a permanent solution for this homeowner, both our foundation repair and crawl space encapsulation crews were needed.
DBS Foreman Taylor and his crew first performed the crawl space foundation work. They installed 10 feet of horizontal steel support beams parallel to the dirt crawl space. Our team installed a total of 6 SmartJack® telescoping vertical beams beneath the new support beam and beneath the home's existing supports.
After the crawl space foundation repair was complete, our team began the crawl space encapsulation work. DBS Foreman Orrin Sundberg lead his crew in the installation of a total encapsulation system: a layer of drainage matting applied directly to the crawl space floor, then a layer of TerraBlock™ insulation, and finally a vapor barrier to seal the space. They also applied spray foam to the rim joists to property seal the space from cold air.
