Foundation Repair Before & After Photos

A cabin owner in Duluth, MN reached out to DBS regarding their cabin foundation. It was beginning to settle and sink in to the ground, which was concerning for the owner. A Design Specialist went out to the property to provide a free, no-obligation estimate for the service. It was determined that the foundation would need to be jacked up and required new support beams, as shown in the photo. The results turned out well, and the cabin has now been stabilized with the support of new beams.

This section of the foundation wall had cracks so extreme that the homeowner had to use expanding foam in an attempt to seal the home away from the wind, cold, and water outside of the home. The homeowner knew this solution was a temporary fix and provided zero structural integrity for the wall. After a full evaluation of the situation the homeowner signed up for a blend of foundation repair solutions that were used across the home depending on the needs in certain areas. In the section pictured we used Helical Tie Backs and Carbon Armor Wall Anchors to permanently stabilize this foundation wall. With this in combination with patching the previous cracks we have created a stabilized wall that seals the home away from the outside environment.

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. Foreman Osia Williams led the installation of this project with his team, and together they successfully installed 10 PowerBrace™ I-beams. Brackets at the top of each I-beam have the ability to be tightened by the homeowners or DBS professionals over time in order to correct bowing in walls and prevent additional cracking.

Now that the home has been permanently stabilized, the owners can relax knowing that they will be able to sell the property with no concerns about the integrity of the foundation. Foreman Trevor Ingle led the installation for this project with assistance from a crew. Together they permanently stabilized the wall by installing 3 PowerBrace™ I-beams by securing each top bracket to the rim joists and bolting the bottom plates to the basement floor. Over time the PowerBrace™ brackets can be tightened during dry periods in an attempt to move the wall back to its original position.

Now that the wall has been permanently stabilized, the homeowner will be able to relax much more comfortably with peace of mind from worrying about a failing wall.
