In order to remedy the problem in this situation or specialist worked with the homeowner to decide on the proper amount of blow in cellulose insulation that would keep the home comfortable while remaining within budget. This homeowner went with over 24" of insulation in their attic. This will keep heat in the home and prevent unconditioned air in the attic from reaching the home.  

The owners of this home in Longville, MN noticed that their home was cooler than usual come wintertime. Looking for an energy-efficiency solution, the homeowners reached out to DBS.

A DBS Design Specialist went to the property to conduct a free no-obligation estimate for the homeowners. After a thorough inspection, the Design Specialist provided them with a quote for our attic insulation and crawlspace encapsulation services.
A DBS Foreman led the installation of this project with assistance from a crew. Together they provided proper insulation to the attic by air sealing all leaking points and spraying a layer of polyurethane spray foam insulation over the floorboards. To finish the attic insulation, the crew blew in 18" of Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation. In the crawl space, the crew encapsulated the crawl space by layering drainage matting, TerraBlock™ frost barrier, and CleanSpace® water vapor barrier. They finished off the crawl space by spraying polyurethane spray foam insulation onto the vertical walls.

Now that the home has been thoroughly insulated, the homeowners will be able to relax much more comfortably as they enjoy lower heating bills and warmer living spaces.

Design Specialist Nicholas Woods II led the team in this installation. They used DES SprayFoam insulation to coat the walls of the crawlspace to avoid any airflow sneaking into the area. Then, the team used CleanSpace for a clean finish and to allow the space to be used as a safe, dry storage area.

With these solutions, this crawlspace is now clean, warm, and ready for use if needed.

Next, they air-sealed the space by applying a waterproof polyurethane spray foam to the floorboards. Finally, they blew in 17 inches of Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation. Tru-Soft™ is made of recyclable material like newspaper and is treated with a borate solution for fire-retardancy and pest repellant. 

Now that the home has been properly insulated, the homeowner can relax comfortably in their energy-efficient and warmer home.
