Superior, WI Crawl Space Foundation Leaks Cold Air in The Winter, Polyurethane Spray Foam Provides Proper Insulation

The owners of this home in Superior, WI experienced issues with cold floors and a drafty home due to improper insulation of their crawl space. They reached out to DBS after seeing an ad for crawl space insulation while perusing the newspaper.

Design Specialist Henry Junbauer went to the home to conduct a free no-obligation estimate. A thorough inspection led Henry to conclude that properly insulating the crawl space walls would provide the homeowners with a more comfortable home and cheaper energy bills.

Foreman Raeshawn Pelfrey led the installation of this project and with the help of a team they successfully applied a layer of closed-cell polyurethane spray foam to the interior walls of the crawl space. This specific foam expands into small crevices to completely air-seal the space. Moisture will soak its way through fiberglass and cellulose insulation, but polyurethane spray foam stops it cold.

Now that the block walls in their crawl space have been properly sealed, the owners of this home will experience warmer floors and a comfier home. As the owners tough out their first winter on the north shore, they will also notice lower energy bills.

WaterGuard Installation in Superior, WI

DBS recently completed a project for a homeowner who needed to address water intrusion in their basement before moving forward with remodeling plans. The house was experiencing water issues on two walls, which threatened the renovation work being done by the homeowners daughter and her boyfriend. DBS installed a WaterGuard system and a DoubleSafe sump pump to ensure the basement remained dry and secure.

High Heating Bills and Uneven Heat in Home Caused By Improper Insulation in Superior, WI Home

The owner of this home experienced issues with a cold entryway. It got so cold in the winter that it felt like there was a window open. No matter how much they raised the heat, all they received in return was higher energy bills. Looking for a solution, the owners reached out to DBS.

Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo went out to the property to conduct a free no-obligation estimate for the homeowner. After the inspection, Henrik the perfect solution that DBS has to offer.

A DBS Foreman led the installation of this project with assistance from a crew. Together they dense-packed Tru-Soft™ blown cellulose insulation into walls in the entryway exterior walls. They did this by cutting holes in the drywall and blowing the Tru-Soft™ into the walls until they are tightly packed. This will provide proper insulation for the exterior walls and help retain heat in the entryway. In the basement, the crew sealed the rim joists of the home with a waterproof polyurethane spray foam. The spray foam expands into every crack and crevice as it is applied to completely air-seal the space.

Now that the home has proper insulation installed, the homeowner will find that their floors stay much warmer in the wintertime. They can now relax comfortably in their home without sacrificing more money for higher heating bills.
