Homeowners in Moose Lake, MN were tired of water issues in their partially finished basement. Before investing time and money in finishing the rest of their basement, they knew they had to take care of water that was leaking via the foundation.
DBS Design Specialist Rich Johnsen is an expert in basement waterproofing and visited the home to provide the inspection and estimate. After thoroughly inspecting the leaky basement, Rich designed a custom plan for a basement waterproofing system including a vapor barrier, powerful new sump pump, and drain tile.
DBS Foreman Dustin Behning and his crew installed our basement waterproofing products. First, they dug a trench around the perimeter of the basement and carried out the concrete. They also drilled weep holes into the bottom foundation blocks. Often times hollow foundation blocks hold water in the foundation wall. With nowhere to go, it eventually leaks into the basement via the footing or the basement wall itself.
From there, they installed our WaterGuard® drainage system and surrounded it with gravel to encourage proper drainage, and covered it with new concrete. Once the drain system install was complete, they connected it to a TripleSafe™ sump pump. To prevent moisture build-up via the basement walls, DBS installed CleanSpace® vapor barrier. This flexible poly material will collect water and moisture, and direct it into the basement drainage system below.
This Moose Lake family now has a proven system for to keep their basement dry for good!

This Stone Lake, WI home was built in 1997. First used as a lake home, this family transitioned to living there year-round. Looking for a permanent solution to make their home more comfortable year-round, they reached out to DBS for a permanent solution.
Henry Jungbauer is our Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist and went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate. After inspecting the property and conducting an energy audit, it was determined that air sealing and blown-in insulation were necessary to effectively seal and insulate the space.
Our production crew first removed the existing fiberglass insulation and sealed the gaps in building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts with a layer of closed-cell spray foam. From there, they blew-in a heavy layer of our TruSoft™ cellulose into the space. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials and will work wonders to protect the space.
Sealing the attic was key to prevent warm air from escaping the home, and improves the overall energy-efficiency and health of the space.
