Crawl Space Encapsulation and Insulation in Duluth, MN

A homeowner in Duluth, MN had a dirt crawl space that was prone to wetness. Concerned about how this was affecting the humidity and temperature in the rest of their home, they reached out to us about our Dr. Energy Saver services.

A Design Specialist trained in energy-saving solutions, visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. It was recommended that a CleanSpace® vapor barrier be laid over drainage matting. These two products work together to direct water away from the crawl space, preventing moisture and the growth of mold. Additionally, a SuperSump® Premier Pump System was included in the plan to direct all water up and out of the crawl space.

Closed-cell spray foam was suggested to fully seal and regulate temperature in the space.

The DBS Foreman and production crew installed these products resulting in a great improvement of this home's overall health.

Failing Duluth, MN Attic Improved by Air Sealing and Insulation

This Duluth, MN home has a cathedral-style attic and almost no insulation. Looking to prevent ice dams in the winter and reduce heating bills, the homeowners reached out to DBS for a permanent solution.

A Dr. Energy Saver® Design Specialist went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. After inspecting the property and conducting an energy audit, it was determined that air sealing, and blown-in insulation were necessary to effectively seal the space.

Our production crew first sealed the gaps in building material and spaces surrounding the attic ducts. From there, they used our TruSoft cellulose to blow into the space. TruSoft™ has a higher R-value than fiberglass and other cellulose materials.

Sealing the attic was key to prevent warm air from escaping the home, and improves the overall energy-efficiency and health of the space.

Duluth, MN Basement is Insulated for Year-Round Use

Homeowners in Duluth, MN were having moisture and insulation issues in their unfinished basement. After meeting DBS at the Duluth Home Show, they decided to schedule a free, no-obligation estimate with our Dr. Energy Saver® team.

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and provided a thorough inspection and estimate. He used a thermal camera to measure heat loss and air flow, finding the rim joists to be a problematic area. The solution was to install a 3" inch layer of closed-cell spray foam to insulate the rim joists. This creates an airtight connection between the rim joist and exterior,  eliminating outdoor air from entering the home.

A DBS Foreman and their production crew applied the 2-part expanding spray foam, sealing and insulating the rim joists from cold outside air. This finished basement room is now comfortable year-round!
