After hearing about us on local radio, homeowners in Duluth, MN reached out to DBS when water was leaking through the foundation of their home and into a lower level bedroom.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for our waterproofing service. It was determined that a partial waterproofing system would be installed. DBS Foreman Kevin Steffey and crew excavated soil around the base of the home and added a Sentry Seal membrane to seal off any cracks in the foundation from the outside. The crew also installed SilverGlo™ insulation to further protect the home's foundation.
The homeowners were happy with the work done and no longer have water issues in that basement bedroom.

A DBS Foreman and crew installed our WaterGuard® System along the perimeter of the basement, paired with our CleanSpace® vapor barrier on the walls. The vapor barrier will collect any water due to condensations, leaking walls, and direct it into the new drain system below.

DBS Foreman Taylor Allen and crew worked on the basement waterproofing job. The crew began by breaking out concrete to create a trench around the home's footing. Our WaterGuard® drain system was put into place and will effectively capture wall and floor seepage, directing it to the home's existing sump pump.
DBS Foreman Nick Burley and his production crew then performed the foundation support work. They installed a PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System, attaching steel I-beams to the concrete floor and the basement rim joists. This PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System, is meant to support walls from further movement and can be tightened over time, in order to restore the walls to their original position. The PowerBrace™ beams are zinc-plated and backed with a 75-year warranty against movement. Additionally, they installed 2 GeoLock™ earth anchors were recommended to stabilize the failing partially underground walls.
The homeowners can now rest easy knowing their home is protected from water and further foundation damage.
This 1940's home in Duluth, MN was prone to taking on water. The owner wanted to fix the water issues for an overall safer and more usuable basement.
A DBS Design Specialist in basement waterproofing visited the home to provide a thorough inspection. It was determined that drain tile would be installed as well as a new sump pump to protect the basement against water intrusion.
A DBS Foreman and waterproofing team worked to install the new system. The crew began by breaking out concrete to create a trench around the home's footing. Our WaterGuard® drain system was put into place and will effectively capture wall and floor seepage, directing it to a new TripleSafe™ sump pump with battery back-up. CleanSpace®, a thick, white poly sheet material was then installed to direct any water leaking from the walls into the drain system below. CleanSpace® makes an excellent covering for basement foundation walls. The crew finished the job by burying the discharge line in the lawn away from the home.

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo is our expert in basement waterproofing and visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. After thoroughly inspecting the leaky basement, Henrik designed a custom plan for a basement waterproofing system including a vapor barrier, and drain tile.
DBS Foreman Dustin Behning and his crew installed our basement waterproofing products. First, they dug a trench around the perimeter of the basement and carried out the concrete. From there, they installed our WaterGuard® drainage system and surrounded it with gravel to encourage proper drainage. Finally the drain system was sealed in new concrete.
Our CleanSpace® vapor barrier was also installed on the basement walls. This durable poly sheeting is anto-microbal and is designed to collect moisture and direct it into the drain system below.
This homeowner now has a proven system for keeping water out of the basement.
