Crawl Space Repair Before & After Photos

Owners of this cabin in Canyon, MN wanted to winterize it for year-round use. Knowing the crawl space had not been attended to in years, they called DBS for a free, no-obligation for our expert crawl space encapsulation service. 

DBS Sales Manager Jacob Nustad-Peluso was the Design Specialist for this crawl space project. After providing a thorough estimate, he created a plan to fully insulate the crawl space. This will in turn, dramatically increase energy savings and keep the space warmer throughout cold Minnesota winter weather. Foreman Nick Woods II and his insulation team installed both foam and spray foam to insulate the space. 

The crew first began by removing all of the existing insulation and debris from the crawl space. SilverGlo™ rigid foam insulation was installed on the vertical wall of the crawl space. From there, our team installed closed-cell spray foam on the rim joists of the crawl space ceiling. This will air seal the crawl space, dramatically reducing the ability of cold air and water to enter the space. 

A cabin owner in Minong, WI wanted to transform this space into their permanent residence. With a dirt crawl space and very little insulation, they wanted to ensure comfortable temperatures in the cabin and eliminate the possibility of pipes freezing and bursting during winter months. Foreman Taylor Allen and his production crew installed a CleanSpace® vapor barrier on top of foam insulation over the dirt crawl space floor. Our ultra-dense TerraBlock™ foam insulation, as well as closed-cell spray foam, were applied to fully seal and regulate temperature in the space. These products work together to keep, cold air, moisture, and pests at bay.

The homeowner was happy with the work done, and now has a solid solution to protect their cabin against low winter time temperatures.

Together they installed drainage matting on the ground of the crawl space to help with water flow beneath the other layers. Next, the crew installed TerraBlock® insulation panels to protect the space against frost and also installed a layer of CleanSpace® water vapor barrier to finish the project. Polyurethane spray foam was also installed on the vertical walls of the crawl space to provide more insulation.

Now that the crawl space has been encapsulated with our 3-layer process, the homeowner can relax much more comfortably in their home.
