The crawl space of this cabin in Ely, MN was experiencing lots of ice dams in the winter as the snow melted off the front side. They decided to call DBS in hopes of finding an energy-efficient solution.
Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer went to the cabin to conduct a free no-obligation estimate. After a thorough inspection, Henry determined that their crawlspace was retaining a lot of heat that should have been blown into the living spaces of the home. He recommended that the owners consider spray foam insulation to solve their problem.
Foreman Nick Woods II led the installation of this project with a team. Together they cleared the old insulation from the concrete block foundation and layered the vertical walls with waterproof polyurethane spray foam. The spray foam will provide insulation for the crawl space as it expands as it is installed completely air-sealing the space.
Henry recommended that the homeowners eventually have insulation dense-packed into their roofing to keep even more heat inside of the cabin, but with the crawlspace insulation, they will notice how much warmer it is already. Now the owners will be more comfortable in their cabin for longer periods during the year.

Design Specialist James Miller assisted these homeowners in a free no-obligation estimate to figure out what solution would best fit their needs. After careful inspection, it was decided that a SmartJack support system would be the best solution.
Foreman Trevor Ingle led the installation of this project, along with a team. Together they installed 10 SmartJack systems and 2 supplemental beams in the basement of the home. These steel jacks are connected with steel tubing and brackets that allow the system to evenly distribute the weight of the structure. The SmartJacks, along with the new supplemental I beams, stabilize the structure and can reposition it back to its original position.
These homeowners can now relax knowing their home is stable and secure.
