Their attic was not sealed off properly underneath the insulation, allowing air to flow freely from living spaces into the attic.

Next, they applied spray foam over the floorboards to air-seal the space and blew in 17 inches of Tru-Soft™ cellulose insulation. Cellulose insulation will help insulate the home much better than traditional fiberglass batting.
