Owners of this home in Bemidji, MN had been using this space for years as a vacation/rental property. After noticing some symptoms like cracking walls in their main living space, they knew they needed to consult a professional foundation repair company, so they called DBS!
DBS Design Specialist James Miller is an expert in foundation repair. He focused on the crawl space, carefully measuring the areas of sinking and settling. He found that several of the main supports had sunk significantly and designed a solution that would restore the home's foundation.
DBS Foreman Nick Burley and his foundation repair crew performed the foundation support job. They installed 40 feet of supplemental support beams in the crawl space and secured the foundation using the SmartJack® System. In total, our team installed 6 SmartJack® System beams while performing a lift procedure to restore the home to a level position.
Owners of this home in International Falls, MN were concerned about the crawl space below their living space. Settling supports contributed to some sinking floors on their main level. After learning about our company's foundation repair service on local television, they reached out to us for a free, no-obligation estimate.
DBS Service Manager Jacob Nustad-Peluso was the Design Specialist for this project. He focused on the crawl space, carefully measuring the areas of sinking and settling. He found that several of the main supports had sunk significantly and designed a solution that would restore the home's foundation.
DBS Foreman Joe Harris and his foundation repair crew performed the foundation support job. They used the warranty-backed SmartJack® System to replace the failing supports in this crawl space. These telescoping support beams are perfect for the crawl space environment and use an aluminum base to stabilize the beams despite the soil type below it. Our team performed a lift procedure to restore the home to a level position, carefully measuring and securing the SmartJack® beams.
This 1930's home had been cold and drafty since the family moved in in the 90's. Cold floors and rooms lead to discomfort during cold Wisconsin winters. Additionally, heat was escaping via the attic causing ice dams and condensation problems in the upper living space. After working with DBS a few years back on another project, they decided to have us completely re-insulate their attic.
DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer is an expert in our Dr. Energy Saver® insulation services. He visited the home to take thorough measurements of the attic space, targeting heat loss with a thermal imaging camera. Nick Woods II and his insulation team installed a combination of spray foam to air seal and insulate the roof deck as well as 18 inches of Tru-Soft™ cellulose.
The home owners will soon see a reduction in energy bills and increase in whole-home comfort!
Owners of this 1950's cabin in Chetek, WI contacted DBS for some professional help with their crawl space. The cabin had an addition built in 2006, creating some uneven floors on the main level of the cabin. Wanting this to become a 4-season retreat for their family to enjoy, they were also interested in crawl space encapsulation and insulation.
DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer visited the cabin and provided a free, no-obligation estimate of the crawl space work. Because it involved both supporting the crawl space and encapsulation, two different crews completed this work.
DBS Foreman Nick Burley and his crew first performed the crawl space foundation work. They installed 24 feet of horizontal steel support beams parallel to the dirt crawl space. Our team installed a total of 11 SmartJack® telescoping vertical beams beneath the new support beam and beneath the cabin's existing supports.
After the crawl space foundation repair was complete, our team began the crawl space encapsulation work. DBS Foreman Nick Woods II lead his crew in the installation of a total encapsulation system: a layer of drainage matting applied directly to the crawl space floor, then a layer of TerraBlock™ insulation, and finally a vapor barrier to seal the space. They also applied spray foam to the rim joists to property seal the space from cold air.
This family now has peace of mind that their cabin will stand up to Wisconsin winter temperatures.

In order to provide a permanent solution for this homeowner, both our foundation repair and crawl space encapsulation crews were needed.
