A homeowner in Hayward, WI wanted to replace the flooring on their main level. When preparing for the work, they noticed significant sloping in certain areas of the floor. They decided to contact DBS for a free, no-obligation foundation repair estimate in order to correct the problem before investing in new flooring.
DBS Design Specialist Rich Johnsen visited the home and inspected the crawl space to find the root of the issue. The dirt crawl space was unsealed and the main supports we sinking. In order to provide a permanent solution for this homeowner, Rich recommended supplemental support along running along the entire length of the home.
DBS Foreman Taylor and his crew performed the crawl space repair work. They installed 175 feet of horizontal steel support beams parallel to the dirt crawl space. Our team then installed a total of 35 SmartJack® telescoping vertical beams beneath the new support beam and beneath the home's existing supports. The SmartJack® beams are anchored to the ceiling joists and supplemental support beams and held in place by steel footings.
This home is now restored to a level position and is ready for home improvement projects in the future.
Homeowners of this 1980's home in Gilbert, MN very recently noticed cracking in the basement foundation walls. Water began to leak through the cracks, creating a mess in the basement and a worry with the homeowners. Looking for a permanent solution to protect their basement, they contacted DBS.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation inspection and estimate for the work. After visiting the home, Henrik recommended the installation of a waterproofing and foundation repair system to fully protect the home.
Because this home had multiple home repair needs, it was broken up into 2 projects. Our highly-trained installers from both foundation support and waterproofing visited the home to complete the repair in their area of expertise.
DBS Foreman Taylor Allen and his crew installed a full waterproofing system in this basement. It consists of a CleanSpace® vapor barrier to stop water and a WaterGuard® subfloor french drainage system to drain water. These two products connect to a new SingleSafe™ sump pump that will keep water out of the home for good.
DBS Foreman Osia Williams and crew installed 4 PowerBrace™ wall support beams to stabilize the walls and prevent any further movement. These galvanized steel I-beams will be tightened over time with the goal of restoring the wall to its original position.
The homeowners can now rest easy knowing their home is healthy, safe, and comfortable!
Homeowners in Minnetonka, MN had issues with the large 3-season porch on the back of their home. Over time, the tall support posts had settled and begun to lean, causing the structure itself to sink.
Sales Manager Royce Bunn was the Design Specialist for this job visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate. He discovered more sinking on the back side of the home and designed a foundation repair plan for both the home and the back deck.
Our foundation repair his crew excavated the exterior of the home in order to perform a lift procedure. Our team installed 8 push piers total at the base of the home on the exterior of the home. These galvanized steel piers were then hydraulically driven into the ground to weight-bearing soils. The weight of the home was then transferred to the competent soil.
From there our team performed the deck stabilization work by driving 4 HelixPro® piers beneath the wooden supports. This home is now fully stabilized and ready to go on the market!
Homeowners in Spring Lake Park, MN wanted to transform their partially-finished basement. Knowing that basements are prone to water leaks, they were interested in learning more about our moisture and mildew resistant basement finishing materials. Our Basement Finishing expert Jason Swanson was the Design Specialist for this project. He visited the home, consulted with the homeowners and created a custom plan for this basement finishing project, including a re-design of the bedroom spaces, as well as a customer wet bar.
The DBS team of expert carpenters began this project by removing some of the existing drywall and carpeting. From there, they installed our water resistant products, as well as completed base electrical; installing outlets, switches, jacks, lighting, and other finishes. The homeowners chose MillCreek Flooring™, a scratch resistant and moisture-proof flooring, in our mahogany color.

A Duluth, MN couple contacted DBS for help in preventing ice dams from forming on their home. Knowing that this is a symptom of energy loss in the home, they figured a permanent solution would make their home more comfortable as well.
DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer is an expert in our Dr. Energy Saver® solutions. After completing a thorough inspection of the attic, he provided the family with a free, no-obligation estimate for the work. He noticed frost and signs of water leaking in the attic, in areas consistent with the ice dams and cold rooms.
DBS Foreman Nick Woods II and his insulation crew completed the attic project. They first removed the existing fiberglass batting insulation, and applied a layer of spray foam to the attic floor for air seal and to prevent energy loss. From there, they applied 18 inches of cellulose insulation. DBS uses Tru-Soft™ cellulose, a light, yet dense material that has an R-value as high as 4 per inch.
The homeowners now have a solid solution to keep their home comfortable and reduce their energy bills!
