Owners of this Courderay, WI cabin dreamt of using their space year-round. With some signs of settling in the foundation and cold floors in the wintertime, they were interested in learning more about our crawl space encapsulation service.
DBS Design Specialist Steve LaFontaine visited the home to provide a free, no-obligation estimate for the project. He assessed the structural concerns, as well as the crawl space. He worked with the cabin owners to design a plan that would increase their year-round comfort and maintain their property value for years to come.
DBS Foreman Nick Burley led this crawl space project. He and his team installed 4 SmartJack® support beams in order to restore the cabin to a level position. From there, they installed our 3-layer system for crawl space encapsulation. First, drainage matting to eliminate moisture buildup, TerraBlock™ crawl space insulation, and CleanSpace® vapor barrier. These three products work together to fully protect the crawl space and condition spaces around them from the effects of cold air and moisture.
This family home in Saint Paul, MN was built in the 1920s. It had some major issues in the crawl space that the homeowner wanted to address before matters worsened. After meeting us at a home show in Woodbury, MN, they decided to move forward with DBS completing the crawl space repair work.
DBS Production Manager Jason Brummer was the Design Specialist for this project. Because the home was showing issues with its cement and stone foundation, as well as the sinking of the floors of the main level, Jason came up with a custom plan including two different foundation repair products.
First, to combat the sinking floors, Jason recommended our SmartJack® system. Equipped with a nationally-backed transferable warranty, this system is meant to permanently stabilize crawl space floors using supplemental steel beams and vertical telescoping SmartJack® beams. Foreman Zach Jorenby and his crew installed the SmartJack® system.
To combat the movement of the foundation walls, Nick Burley and his crew installed a GeoLock™ Wall Anchor System. This foundation repair product anchors the foundation wall to earth plates in the stable soil around the home's exterior. Connected by long steel rods, this system pulls the vertical foundation walls towards the exterior of the home, back to a level position.
This Duluth, MN home was built in the 1940s and had some major issues with sinking and settling. In preparation to sell the home, the owner wanted the foundation issues fixed. After a referral from another local business in the Duluth/Superior area, they reached out to DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate.
DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo is an expert in foundation repair. He completed a thorough estimate and proposed a plan for the home repair using our push pier system.
DBS Foreman Jose Valenzuela and his foundation crew completed this project. After excavating the soil around the foundation of the home, they installed 4 push piers, as well as an exterior drain to help water move away from the foundation. The push piers attached to the home via steel brackets. Then, long, galvanized tubes are hydraulically driven into the soil. Once competent soil is reached, the weight of the home is transferred and lifted back to its original position.
This home is now returned to a safe and level position and ready to go on the real estate market!
This 100-year-old home in Duluth, MN had issues with water intrusion in the basement. They noticed the issues immediately upon moving into the home three years ago. They pinpointed the source of the water as leaking through cracks in the basement foundation walls and the concrete footing. After learning about us in the Duluth News Tribune, they decide to contact DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate.
DBS Design Specialist Nathan Schroeder visited the home and provided a thorough inspection. Assessing the cracks in the foundation, he determined that a french drain tile system would be installed, as well as a vapor barrier wall covering.
Foreman Joe Harris led the installation of this basement waterproofing system. The team first dug trenches along the perimeter of the basement to install our WaterGuard® french drain system. This interior drain tile will catch water and lead it to the basement sump pump. To catch the water coming from the cracks in the basement walls, our team installed CleanSpace® vapor barrier. This thick, white poly sheet material makes an excellent covering for leaky basement foundation walls. It catches all water and vapor and leads it down into the WaterGuard® drain.
This homeowner now has a proven system to keep water out of the basement for good!
This Duluth, MN home was in need of foundation repair. The attached garage was sinking in one corner, and putting a lot of pressure on the rest of the foundation. This is due to shifting soils beneath the garage and concrete slab.
DBS Design Specialist Nathan Schroeder visited the home and provided a free, no-obligation estimate for the home's foundation repair work. After inspecting the crawl space, and measuring the structure's settlement, he crafted a plan that would restore the home's structural integrity. This included our push pier system as well as concrete repair.
The DBS foundation repair crew excavated soil to gain access to the garage's footing. From there, they installed 3 push piers, completing a lift procedure of the sinking structure. They were also able to address the sinking garage slab with an installation of PolyLevel®. This 2-part foam expands when applied and hardens why dry, lifting and leveling the concrete above it.
These Duluth homeowners now have a permanent solution against foundation movement in the future.
