Leaky Superior, WI Home Protected with Waterproofing and Foundation Systems

Homeowners of this 1970s home in Superior, WI noticed that cracks in the basement foundation walls were leaking water. The homeowners were tired of cleaning after water intrusion and were worried about the implications of consistent water in the basement. Looking for a permanent solution to protect their basement, they contacted DBS.

DBS Design Specialist Nathan Schroeder went to the home and provided a free, no-obligation inspection and estimate for the work. After visiting the home, Nathan reviewed the inspection with the homeowner and recommended the installation of a waterproofing and foundation repair system to fully protect the home.

Because this home had multiple home repair needs, it was broken up into 2 projects. Our highly-trained installers from both foundation support and waterproofing visited the home to complete the repair in their area of expertise.

DBS Foreman Osia Williams and his crew installed the full waterproofing system in this basement. It consists of a CleanSpace® vapor barrier to stop water and a WaterGuard® subfloor french drainage system to drain water. These two products connect to a new SingleSafe™ sump pump that will keep water out of the home for good.

DBS Foreman Nick Burley and his crew installed 7 PowerBrace™ wall support beams to stabilize the walls and prevent any further movement. These galvanized steel I-beams will be tightened over time with the goal of restoring the wall to its original position.

The homeowners can now rest easy knowing their home is healthy, safe, and comfortable!

New Attic Insulation Prevents Ice Dams and Saves Energy in Duluth, MN

Owners recently purchased this 1960s home in Saginaw, MN. They noticed immediately that propane costs were high and that ice dams were present on the roof. Wanting to save energy and make their home more comfortable, they contacted DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate for the work.

DBS Design Specialist Henry Jungbauer visited the home and provided an inspection and thorough estimate for the attic insulation project. To prevent any leaking from ice dams in the future, Henry suggested air sealing the attic floor and re-insulating it. DBS Foreman Nick Woods II lead the attic insulation crew. They added Tru-Soft™ cellulose to the attic after air sealing, to provide a solid radiant barrier. This will, in turn, prevent warm air from escaping from the living space through the attic. This insulation method also prevents the space from heating up too much during the summer months.

The homeowners were happy with the work our insulation crew did and now have a solid solution to stand up to cold Minnesota winters.

Cracked Foundation and Leaky Basement Repaired in Washburn, WI

A homeowner who recently purchased this home in Washburn, WI had a few concerns about the basement. The cracked and bowing foundation walls were allowing water to enter the space. After a family friend referred them to DBS, they called to schedule a free, no-obligation estimate.

DBS Design Specialist Nathan Schroeder visited the home to inspect the source of the foundation wall and basement water issues. He determined that both a waterproofing system and wall repair system would be installed to provide a permanent solution to both issues.

DBS Foreman Joe Harris and his crew installed both systems beginning with the basement waterproofing system. In order to protect the entire basement, our basement repair team installed 100 feet of interior drain tile with a CleanSpace® vapor barrier on the walls. DBS uses the WaterGuard® drainage system, designed to capture water seepage through walls and leaks along the wall and floor joint. Water enters the system via inlet holes and flows through the drainage pipe to the basement sump pump.

After the successful install of the basement system, our team installed 6 PowerBrace™ steel I-beams. This system permanently stabilizes basement walls and its unique tightening system can restore the original wall to its original position over time.

The homeowner was ecstatic with the work done and looks forward to using a water-free basement going forward.

Newly Purchased Home in Cloquet, MN Gets Foundation Lift

The new owners of this Cloquet, MN home had grand plans to renovate it. But they knew there were water issues in the basement and a sinking and settling foundation that they had to tackle first! In order to find an expert solution, they reached out to DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate.

DBS Design Specialist Nathan Schroeder is an expert in foundation repair. He completed a thorough estimate and proposed a plan for the home repair using our push pier system. Because our team would need to excavate the soil around the foundation, Nathan also recommended applying an external waterproofing membrane to deter moisture from entering the basement. This will also assist in frost protection.

DBS Foreman Zach Royer and his foundation crew completed this project. After excavating the soil around the foundation of the home, they installed 8 push piers, attaching the steel brackets to the foundation footing. From there, long, galvanized tubes are hydraulically driven into the soil. Once competent soil is reached, the weight of the home is transferred and lifted back to its original position.

After our team completed the lift procedure, the home was restored to a level position! No more further settling will occur and the owners can move on with their restoration plans!

Bowing Walls and Water Leaks in Augusta, WI Home Repaired by DBS

A 1930s home in Augusta, WI had a bowing and cracked foundation wall. The walls were allowing water to enter the space, leaving behind a mess!  The homeowner called to set-up a free, no-obligation inspection and estimate for the work.

DBS Design Specialist Jason Brummer visited the home to inspect the source of the foundation wall and basement water issues. He determined that both a waterproofing system and wall repair system would be installed to provide a permanent solution to both issues.

DBS Foreman Zach Jorenby and his crew installed both systems beginning with the basement waterproofing system. In order to protect the entire basement, our basement repair team installed 115 feet of interior drain tile with a CleanSpace® vapor barrier on the walls. DBS uses the WaterGuard® drainage system, designed to capture water seepage through walls and leaks along the wall and floor joint. Water enters the system via inlet holes and flows through the drainage pipe to a new SingleSafe sump pump.

After the successful install of the waterproofing system, our team installed four GeoLock™ Wall Plates and Earth Anchors to the failing foundation wall. This system uses heavy-duty anchors and connects them to plates on the wall interior wall. Connected with long, galvanized rods, these anchors are tightened to straighten the wall over time and provide maximum support. From there, they also installed Carbon Armor Wall Defense straps to hold the wall in place, preventing it from further movement.

The homeowner was happy with the work done and looks forward to using a water-free basement going forward.
